Coconut Oil for Skin Care – Part 2

This week I’m sharing some recipes for skin care using coconut oil:

 Rejuvenating Body Scrub

  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 cup of warm coconut milk
  • 2 drops of essential oil of your choice

Mix all ingredients together and allow to cool. Apply to body and rub gently with your hand for a few minutes before rinsing off.

Coconut Body Oil

  • 2 ounces coconut oil
  • 1.5 ounces sunflower oil
  • Splash wheat germ oil
  • 5 drops essential oil

Melt the coconut oil in a heatproof bowl over gently simmering water. Adding the sunflower and wheat germ oils slowly once the coconut oil has melted. Leave until cool but not solid before mixing in essential oils. Leave to set for at least 24 hours.

To apply. Warm the oil in the palm of your hands before spreading over entire body.

Coconut Body Lotion Bars

*1 Cup coconut oil

*1 Cup shea butter, cocoa butter or mango butter (or a mix of all three equal to 1 cup)

*1 Cup beeswax

 Essential Oils- optional

1tsp. Vitamin E oil to preserve.- optional

Combine all ingredients (except essential oils if using)  in a quart size glass mason jar with a lid  and place this in a small saucepan of water until melted.\Stir ingredients constantly until they are melted and smooth.

Remove from heat and add the essential oils.

Gently stir by hand until essential oils are incorporated

Carefully pour into molds or a muffin tin to set.

Allow the lotion bars to cool completely before attempting to pop out of molds. These could be made in a square baking pan and then cut into actual bars.

Tip – It’s a good idea to date label your homemade products.

Remember to always do a patch test if you are new to using a product or just not sure.

Yay! I also use this homemade and natural body scrub. I use it generally to remove blackheads. And it is really effective. I also use coconut oil to moisturize not only my skin but also my hair. And it’s really effective for me. These are just some of the coconut oil benefits that I get and I’m glad I can get it from my favorite organic source.
